The Green Gardeners training program is proudly supported by the State Government Stormwater and Urban Water Conservation Fund, Melbourne Water, Regional Water Authorities and the Victorian Catchment Management Authorities.
In the Melbourne Metropolitan and Westernport region Melbourne Water supports the delivery of the Green Gardeners Module One: 'Protecting our rivers & creeks'. Melbourne Water is committed to working together for a sustainable water future. In partnership with key stakeholders, including industry and community, Melbourne Water supports a range of stormwater education programs aimed at protecting the health of rivers, creeks and the bay.
In regional Victoria various Catchment Management Authorities and Water Authorities support the delivery of Green Gardeners Module One as part of their role in ensuring the protection and restoration of land and water resources, the sustainable development of natural resources-based industries and the conservation of our natural and cultural heritage.
The Green Gardeners Module Two: Water Conservation is funded as part of the State Government Our Water Our Future Action plan to secure Victoria’s water future. The program received funding under the Stromwater and Urban Water Conservation Fund which was established to boost stormwater urban water initiatives across Victoria. Stormwater harvesting and urban water conservation are core elements of the Government’s plan to secure Victoria’s water future for the next 50 years.
Councils across Victoria host the delivery and promotion of the Green Gardeners training program as it aligns with numerous local government strategies and projects.
The Green Gardeners program was developed by Sustainable Gardening Australia and Melbourne Water in conjunction with the Landscape Industries Association of Victoria and Holmesglen Institute of TAFE.
